Hi Davrianites.
Apologies for the lateness of the Classic Le Mans pics, here they are finally.
Start of road trip, Lincolnshire Coast to Dover.
First night campsite was about 2 hours from Calais at Abbeville giving us time to put the tents up and drink beer
A leisurely drive to Le Mans the next day and after stopping at Yvetot for petrol, bread, cheese and more beer, we stopped for lunch at the Pont de Bretonne.
From the bridge it was about 3 hours drive to Le Mans which was 32c on arrival, OMG! Had to stop a couple of times to let the engine cool down, but "Beau Sejour" campsite (inside the circuit) had only just opened so there was plenty of space.
My highlight of the racing was this, a Nathan powered by an Imp engine, I think it finished 14th in class, remarkable.
Part of the attraction of the "Classic" is the variety of interesting cars on the campite, most of which were driven down.
One of our party spotted another Davrian in Arnage and with the help of Davrian.net (thanks) we met up with Tom at the end of racing.
Toms car is a real stunner!
Return trip home went pretty smoothly, arriving back in Calais 2 hours before our ferry, plenty of time to look at the other classics.
Rolled up home at 21.15 hrs after leaving Le Mans campsite at 9 that morning.
543 miles in 13 hours (minus the ferry).
1,150 miles round trip with only one small problem, the charge wire to the altenator broke, so a bit of quick wire splicing and we were on our way.
The interest in the Davrian was constant, everywhere we went people were taking pictures and asking questions, the final words go to the chap in the Aero 8 in front of me at Calais,
" This is a Davrian isn't it, I always wanted a Davrian, well done for taking it to Le Mans, well done"
