Mk 6 windscreen and suspension
Couple of questions - which car does the windscreen come from ?
Additionally, what suspension set up are people running - shocks, springs, bushes? Intended use would be road and possibly sprints.
Cheers Dick

Re: Mk 6 windscreen and suspension
Davrians MK6 and earlier use Triumph Spitfire/TR4 windscreens ( MK 7 and 8 use Alfa screen).
Springs will depend on use and/ or personal preference, but generally it is suggested that you shouldn't go too hard. If using Imp diameter springs then use equivalent of 'monte' springs or softer, probably with a front antiroll bar.
For something completely different! My MK8 mini engine with 21/4 dia springs has 180 front, 275 rear with front A/R bar
Will be interesting to hear others suggestions, good luck!

Re: Mk 6 windscreen and suspension
Thanks for the windscreen detail and the suspension ideas, interesting to see what everyone else runs for suspension - apart from axle stands or pallets ;-O
Re: Mk 6 windscreen and suspension
Just looking at mine tonight by pure coincidence. The rears are coil overs 9"x250lbs. My main problem was them running too low and bumping out but that it turns out was me being a chump with setup and putting 17mm spacing washers in a very bad place at the top of the strut which robbed me of travel and not setting the adjustable platform height correctly. Set correctly this evening if got 50mm of spring travel (more in wheel movement), I can't bottom it out by jumping on the engine mount anymore!
Cheers

I'm running a full coil over set up supplied by Tim Duffee, comprises AVO adjustable shocks and springs that again Tim supplied, I'm not sure of the spring rates though. I'm doing another couple of track days at Combe on Thursday 19th March and Thursday 16th April if you fancy coming along to see how the car feels on track.

I will check the diary - I can't do 16th, but 19th might be a possibility.Nugget wrote: I'm doing another couple of track days at Combe on Thursday 19th March and Thursday 16th April if you fancy coming along to see how the car feels on track.

Dick,
I have a chip in my screen and have ordered a new one,
Tinted green and heated so no more misting up.
If you like I can double the order and hopefully get
a discount. The price is 361.08 + vat. By the way it
it a early spitefire Mk 1

That sounds a bit steep?
How about Rimmers:

There must be loads of other Triumph specialists to choose from, too.
It was a long time ago (16 yrs), but mine was only 50 quid from "Super screens" Might have been a special favour though, as they were on the same estate where I was working at the time.
But on the subject of Triumph specialists, I do still need to try and locate a UJ for the bottom of my steering column

Re: Mk 6 windscreen and suspension
I got mine about 2 years ago by going to an Auto Glass repairer and they sourced and fitted a screen for me. I figured they did this kind of thing day in and day out. From memory it was sub 300 all fitted and it was a tinted modern spec glass.
