Re: MEY 882J

You can't go wrong at the price. The K100 in our Grinnall is very lively, I've beaten most of the field in slalom with it.....but I really fancy the 50% power increase I'd have with the 1200RS unit for the Davrian. Apparently it's easy to chip the K1 (16 valve 998cc) unit up to something like 115bhp...

Re: MEY 882J

Not having the 1200 alternator to compare, I have no idea, but I wouldn't have thought a 50% increase in output would necessarily equate to much, if any, increase in external dimensions.
I wonder if anyone has dimensions on the 1200 60amp unit?

Re: MEY 882J

Do you reckon you can squirrel the OE airbox and filter box in between the A frame members? From the pix it looks possible... It will be interesting to see how much depth of extra clearance you need for the alternator, I'm wondering if the extra 45mm depth on the Mk 7 might just be enough? The other...

Re: MEY 882J

I'm hoping I have a bit more space available in the Mk 7. How long are the arms on you engine support A frame, measured from the face of the foot plate on the bulkhead to the outer edge of the rear crossover section? I think it may be shorter than on the Mk 7. My right A frame leg seems to be 445mm ...

Re: Fitting a BMW K1200 engine....

Very nice! What did that cost? What bhp? PM me if you like. I've been researching these in and out of bikes. I imagine that one's been rebuilt after a few season's racing? I bought a Caterham engine which had been used in endurance racing for 2 seasons, then "rebuilt completely using all new pa...

Re: Fitting a BMW K1200 engine....

I think I'll have to go for this. I've found a lowish mileage year 2000 K1200RS with a gearbox problem but otherwise very good, with many new parts. At the price, it should be possible to recover the lot by breaking it, so it's a free engine once the bits are sold on. The only problem (apart from a ...

Re: Deadly Davrian Drip

50kg just behind the seats would surely not help the handling, which is already slightly rear biased. Interesting to see what real life effect it has, measured on a racetrack, in comparison with the OE tanks though. I do like the idea of a single, baffled tank, I'm thinking of fitting one on the Mk ...

Re: Mk7 Windscreen

Giulia GT Junior for one, but I think the same screen was used on other Giulia saloon types. http://www.alfaromeo.com.hk/hk/media/image/history/timeline/alfa-1750-1968-t.jpg https://ranwhenparkeddotnet.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/alfa-romeo-giulia-sprint-gta-1.jpg http://40.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m...

Re: Sparkplug Davrian

here's a link to a description of the Hartwell 998 race engine in a sidecar (The Limpet) which used NGK B8EN plugs.
