Re: any preference for schock absorbers

Hi Neil, I guess choosing shocks is much like chocolate bars, we all have our favorites for various reasons!. The usual mid range suspects would be Spax, Avo, Protec and Gaz. I tried a pair of Avo's on a Jensen a couple of years ago but one of them came apart twice but was repaired under warranty. I...

Re: advice on brake set up?

When i first started driving my Mk6 (nearly 40 years ago!..bloody hell!) i had a sunbeam sport engine and found the drums more than adequate for spirited whizzing about. I stayed with drums for a long while even with a 998 and R17 but put front discs on when i switched to twin 40's and an R21 more t...

Re: Bloody spam adverts!!

We are getting two hits a day now, as Shammy said other forums have a Q to pass before joining or you have to email a request to join. Unfortunatly I do not have the skills to set this up!, do we have a techy on board?. I will try and clear the latest load this evening but they will be back tomorrow...

Bloody spam adverts!!

Hi all,

As a moderator I have been deleting these irritating shoe adverts as soon as I see them but I am now struggling to keep up!.
Is there some way we can block them permanently?. I will deal with the latest batch later when I have time.

Re: steering knuckle

Just reading the posts regarding panel fit!!!. It is this that has totally stalled my Mk6 rebuild. New front panel which was stored badly for a number of years fitted where it touched and the new back panel purchased from Tim altho not a bad fit still needs a huge amount of work to bring it to good ...

Re: Master cylinders

Hi Hal, Yup Cylinders are still fully operational, no leaks, corrosion or dampness!!. I sent one to a brake specialist who was happy with what he found inside and the guy at shaws (based at Mallory park) told me most of the cylinders he supplied were for motorsport and he didn't want any being retur...

Transaxle oil

Going to do a service on the Mk4. The transaxle was brand new when i fitted it a couple of years ago, when i got the car it came with two which my friend had bought over twenty years before!. I filled the box with an ep75/80 but have always been slightly unhappy with how thin the oil was and have de...
